I didn’t get a chance to write about this trailer last week, but guys…I’m excited for Captain Marvel. And not just because I would walk to the end of the Earth and back for Brie Larson (although I would absolutely do that, yes). I am excited for everything about this movie. And if you watch the trailer below, you can see why.
In the mid-90s, special agent Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) comes into contact with Carol Danvers (Brie Larson), a former U.S. fighter pilot who had been recruited by an elite alien military team. Danvers has returned to Earth to answer questions about her past while also protecting her home from an intergalactic conflict between the Krees (the villains from Guardians of the Galaxy) and the Skrulls, an even more sinister race of shape-shifting aliens.
Everything about this trailer has me onboard. I’m excited for the direction from Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. I’m excited for the screenplay, which includes input from talents such as Meg LeFauve and Nicole Perlman. I’m excited for Larson’s intelligent, fun turn as the titular hero. I’m excited for the 90s touches, including Blockbuster, Samuel L. Jackson with two eyes, and Clark Gregg’s Phil Coulson with hair. And above all I’m excited by this trailer, which looks gorgeous, sounds great, and has that killer transformation from “her” into “hero.” I am completely invested in seeing Larson kick ass, and I’m sure after this trailer, you will be too. Captain Marvel will be released on March 8th, 2019, just in time to introduce the character before she inevitably defeats Thanos in a third of the time it took all fifty Avengers.
