Here’s Your First Look At Pennywise The Dancing Clown In The New ‘It’ Adaptation

Do you like balloons, Georgie? Do ya? If you answered yes, 1) You are a sick human being, and 2) You should be excited, as the new image of Pennywise the Dancing Clown (Good God, that name is terrifying) has been released.

Based on Stephen King’s most famous novel, Hollywood has been knocking on It’s door ever since the 1990 miniseries received an, *ahem*, middling response (although Tim Curry still haunts my nightmares). New Line Productions has been trying to get this film off the ground for several years, and almost had it ready for 2016 with director Cary Joji Fukunaga (Jane Eyre, True Detective) and Will Poulter (We’re the Millers) as Pennywise. However, apparently something artsy made the producers nervous, so they let Fukunaga go, and he took Poulter with him. Instead, they managed to get the much-cheaper Andrés Muschietti (Mama) to direct and the relatively unknown Bill Skarsgård to play the killer clown.

The film also stars Jaeden Lieberher as Bill and a group of unknowns as the rest of the Losers’ Club, and the film will be released September 8, 2017. And now, what you’ve all been waiting for. Good luck sleeping tonight.
