Despite three (upcoming) sequels to Toy Story, and two for the critically meh-ed Cars, the one sequel Pixar fans have always wanted to see was The Incredibles 2. Sold as a superhero film before delivering a funny, meditative tale about midlife crises and settling into parenthood after a wild and vivacious youth, The Incredibles is one of the most quoted Pixar films of all time, and yet somehow remains underrated. It never quite got the love it deserved, perhaps because it wasn’t as fun or as groundbreaking as Finding Nemo or Up. However, Pixar knows what fans want, and they are finally delivering the film that fans have wanted since 2004.
Everyone’s favorite superhero family is back to battle a new set of issues, including adjusting to normal life, Jack-Jack’s emerging powers, and a new villain. Luckily, everyone’s back to work together to save the day, including the film’s new focus, Helen (Holly Hunter), Bob (Craig T. Nelson), Violet (Sarah Vowell), Dash (Huck Milner), Jack-Jack, and family friend Frozone (Samuel L. Jackson).
Personally, I am all about this film. This is a fun, entertaining trailer, that cast is still just too good, and we will thankfully get to return to two of the greatest animated characters in history, Frozone and the incomparable Edna Mode (Brad Bird). I literally think about Edna Mode and her flawlessness at least once a day. The rest of the cast includes John Ratzenberger (as the return of the Underminer), Bob Odenkirk, and Catherine Keener. You can watch the trailer below, and be ready to look for you super suit on June 15, 2018.
