Boxing films are widely considered the best sports films made. I’m not entirely sure why that is, but Rocky and Raging Bull are two of the greatest movies ever made, and last year’s Creed was one of the best of the year. So naturally, Hollywood would be quick to jump on the story of Vinny Paz, as it has all the makings of another sports classic.
Produced by Martin Scorsese and starring Miles Teller (Whiplash) and Aaron Eckhart (The Dark Knight), the film tells the story of Vinny Paz as he wins the Junior Heavyweight Championship, only to be struck down shortly afterwards in a car accident. Suffering from a broken neck, Paz was determined to not only prove doctors wrong that he would never walk again, but to prove that he could fight again.
Honestly, it doesn’t look too terrible, but I’m not expecting much from it. Personally, I’m just excited to watch Miles Teller get hit in the face, and I’m pretty sure I’m not alone there. The film opens November 4, 2016, and you can watch the trailer below:
