‘Justice League’ Trailer Just Released At Comic-Con

I wasn’t planning on posting anything from Comic Con up to the minute. Usually there isn’t anything massive that drops there, and it can wait until Monday. In fact, there are a lot of trailers that I am leaving until then, as they can wait. However, when a trailer for something as big as Justice League drops, I can’t just sit back and ignore it.

Set to White Stripes’ Icky Thump, the trailer focuses on Bruce Wayne/Batman’s (Ben Affleck, or Batfleck) quest to set up a team of superheroes to defend the Earth from an impending threat. With the help of Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot, who also had her own trailer at the Convention, which will be posted on Monday), he locates Arthur Curry/Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Barry Allen/The Flash (the always great Ezra Miller, who steals this trailer), and Victor Stone/Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and asks them to join the team. At some point, it is assumed a (SPOILER ALERT) resurrected Superman joins the team.

Look, I enjoy the trailer immensely, but it’s trying to hard. After complaints that Batman V Superman was too dark (a justifiable complaint, even though I didn’t hate the film), this trailer’s really driving home the humor. That could be just because The Flash is a sarcastic character, but it seems like they’re really beating us over the head with “SEE? WE CAN BE FUNNY TOO, YOU GUYS!!!!” That being said, Momoa looks solid, Miller is always great, and Affleck and Gadot were the best parts about BVS, so I’m willing to give Zack Snyder another chance. Justice League will be released November 17, 2017, and you can watch the trailer now.
