What I Watched, What You Watched #110

Hey guys! See any good movies this week? Yes, Avengers: Endgame has finally been released, and as you may have seen on this weekend, it’s pretty damn good! But obviously that’s not the only thing I watched this week, so let’s take a look at the ups and downs of pop culture, shall we?

Thanks to Endgame, this was a pretty superhero-heavy week of movie watching. I finished both Ant-Man and The Wasp and Thor: The Dark World as a part of my Marvel Cinematic Universe Ranking (which you can read right here), and found both to be fairly watchable. Obviously Ant-Man is far superior to the messy, weird Thor, but the latter has gotten a bum rap over the years. Meanwhile, outside of Marvel, I watched M. Night Shyamalan’s Glass, and I want to say this: Glass is not a great movie. It’s boring and flawed, and ten years too late. However, the film still plays out as an auteur taking a massive swing, and I respect the hell out of that.

Meanwhile, when it comes to television, I had a busy, exciting week. I got myself caught up on both Fosse/Verdon and Killing Eve. The former is still finding its groove, but boasts a terrific performance from Michelle Williams. As for the latter, Sandra Oh is still doing the Lord’s work, but there’s been a slight dip in quality from the premiere (not major, but noticeable). What We Do In The Shadows is happily finding its stride after a fine first couple of weeks. And Barry and Veep remain the two greatest comedies on TV (I binged the latter to get all caught up, and it’s the hardest I’ve laughed in a long time). Game of Thrones is building up to the soon-to-be legendary Battle of Winterfell, and this last episode, “A Knight Of The Seven Realms,” was a real joy to watch (I laughed, I cried, I was riveted). Which brings me to my final new show of the week, I Think You Should Leave. Tim Robinson’s weird, disturbing, wonderful new show is a real hit, and I recommend it to literally everyone. Oh, and I watched a few new episodes of Deadwood, and I’m still enjoying it.

That concludes this week’s What I Watched, What You Watched. Let me know in the comments what you think of these movies and shows, and let me know what you thought of Endgame! See you all next week!
